For those of you who are wondering, my in-laws in Beirut are doing relatively OK, after the car bomb that exploded Sunday night a couple of blocks away from their home in the Christian neighbourhood of Achrafieh...

Apparently, another bombing occurred a few hours ago in mostly Sunni Verdun, also in Beirut.

We've all been painfully aware that 2007 would be a rough year for this small Mediterranean country. This could just be a prelude to what's coming up.

Sigh...

Very glad to hear that all your relatives are safe in Beirut. The situation in Lebanon is looking extremely unstable... I worry about the future of the country.

Me too, Jeb... I don't understand how people can continue their lives as if nothing is happening around them. Their resillience really amazes me...

Thanks for your kind words!

Funny! Only yesterday I was thinking long time no see and here today I find that you dropped by.

Like Jeb, I am glad that your relatives are doing OK in Lebanon.

I read Sophia's column. It's all so very depressing. When will this all end? We've read about such social turmoil and upheaval in fiction books, never thinking that we would witness those during our own lifetime. Do you remember Clinton's* millenium speech about building a bridge to the 21st century? The future sounded so hopeful then. Such a long time ago!

Anyway, take care and here's wishing all remain well with your relatives in Beirut!

* Didn't know about Clinton what I do now. I should have known better than to trust "slick Willy"!
